Sunday Highlight: July 30, 2023
Let’s focus our prayers on England. James Smith is one of our missionaries in London and we will pray for him today. When James arrived in London, it was closed. Really — it was during the COVID-19 shutdown. People were on the streets, but much of the city was locked down.
So, James put on a mask and started walking the city. He saw people who were lonely and bored. So, he started going up to people and asked if he could pray for them. Sure, some turned away. But others were happy to talk. James talked to a Muslim man, whom we’ll call Adam. As they talked, Adam said he had been having strange dreams. God often speaks to Muslims in dreams, and James quickly saw that was the case with the Muslim man.
The talk led to prayer and more talk and Bible study. Adam became a follower of Jesus Christ. He is one of only about 50 Christ followers in his mostly-Muslim people group. Now, Adam wants all his people to know the one true Savior. Our church helps support James there in London because we give through the Cooperative Program. As James tells person after person about Jesus, we are sort of right there as well, cheering him on. Let’s pray for James now.
