HPBC Missions College One Day features missions training by International Mission Board (IMB) personnel for pastors, mission trip leaders, and mission team members.

We will have 3 tracks of training:

 
Pastor Track

3 sessions will help you …

  • Learn what it might look like to be a “sending church.”
  • See how churches have partnered with IMB missionaries and HPBC to coordinate short terms missions and regularly promote the connection between the local church and what’s happening on the field.
  • Learn about the direction and vision of IMB.
  • Learn about practical resources for missions education, connecting mission teams, and how a person can become an IMB missionary.
 
Mission Team Leader Track –

3 sessions will help you … 

  • Increase your confidence to lead all aspects of a short-term mission trip. 
  • Get practical, clear, interactive, and informative training that will help them know the next steps to take to make the idea of a mission trip a reality.
  • Walk away with planning schedules, ideas for the length of trip, ideas for booking flights and lodging, how to plan to feed the team in Asian countries, ideas for traveling by public transit, and whom to go to for questions. 
  • Learn basic safety and security principles.
 
Mission Team Member Track

3 sessions will help you …

  • Gain confidence before your next mission trip with personal and spiritual preparation for missions.
  • Understand the qualities and qualifications of a great mission team member.
  • Learn the basics of what you’ll encounter overseas.
  • Learn what you need to know about the cultures of some of the countries you may serve in (focus on East Asia).
  • Come away more prepared to show the love of Christ in any culture.

Schedule: 3 tracks, 3  – 1 ½ hour sessions per track, 9 total sessions

 
  • 8:30 am – Registration
  • 9:00 – 10:30 am – Session #1
  • 10:45am – Noon – Session #2
  • 1215 – 1:30 pm – Lunch
  • 1:30 – 3:00 pm – Session #3

International Mission Board (IMB) Field Personnel Guest Speakers:

Wally and Rose met during their college years at Michigan State University, completed their graduate degree at Wheaton College Graduate School, coursework at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and now they are pursuing their PhDs from Biola University. Jeff and Rose and their son Eric, recently moved to Seoul, Korea on July 16, 2018. They have been serving 21 years in East Asia since 1997. For most of their time they were involved in church planting work amongst an unreached people group in East Asia and now are leading the mobilization and connection work throughout East Asia. They have three children ages 21, 20 and 16.

Steve serves as the Affinity Group Leader for East Asia, and has been based in Taipei, Taiwan for over ten years.  He and his family served in various leadership roles in Cambodia and Thailand for 13 years and in East Asia for 12 years.  Steve and his wife, Patti have been married for 34 years; they have four married daughters and eleven grandchildren.

Donn and his wife Teresa, along with their 3 children, have served with the IMB for over 15 years. The first 12 years, they served in East Asia as church planters and Team Leaders. For the last 3 years, Donn has served as the Cluster Leader for the IMB work in Japan. In this role, he works closely with the 8 team leaders and nearly 70 IMB missionaries throughout Japan as they plant new churches and partner with local churches to see the Gospel go forward in Japan.

Scott and Julie have had the privilege of serving on behalf of our SBC churches with the IMB for over 16+ years. During their time with the IMB they served in Africa for almost 15 years and East Asia for 2 1/2 years. During their time of service, they have served as Church Planters (CP), CP Trainers for IMB, served Local and International churches as CP Trainers, and served as Leaders for IMB over CP work in nearly 20 African Countries. Currently they serve as Church Partnership and Mobilization Strategists in East Asia. They recently were stationed in Honolulu for 5 months January-May 2019 and made wonderful connections with many of our pastors and churches. They have 3 grown children who live in the USA.
