Sunday Highlight: April 12, 2026
In our prayer time today, let’s remember Amber and Nick Sroka, missionaries serving in Brasília, Brazil.
Some Indigenous families in Brazil face an unimaginable choice to either follow tribal traditions of infanticide or face rejection from their people. Babies born with disabilities, diseases, or in the case of twins, are often at risk. Families who refuse these practices are sometimes forced to leave their tribes.
The Srokas are bringing the hope of Christ into this darkness. Partnering with a Baptist church from Missouri, they hosted a summer event where they met children like Jessica, who was born with muscular dystrophy. Her parents left their tribe to protect her.
Amber and Nick serve through ATINI, which means “voice” in a local Indigenous language. ATINI is a ministry center that provides medical care, education, and tutoring, while also walking alongside families with the love of Christ.
One couple, Edgar and Elisa, now living at ATINI with their five children, recently placed their faith in Jesus. Their testimony shines as evidence of God’s transforming power.
Let’s pray that more Indigenous families will see the worth of their children, hear the story of a loving God, and find hope in Christ.
