Sunday Highlight: August 30, 2026
Osvaldo and Vanessa Lerma serve with Send Relief at the Ministry Center in Laredo, Texas, just a few miles from the United States and Mexico border. There, they lead volunteers in hands-on ministry to refugees legally seeking asylum in America.
“We minister alongside churches who have been called to share Christ with hurting people by introducing them to refugees,” Vanessa said. “We’re always amazed at what refugees go through to come here.”
The Lermas connect mission teams with local churches and a nearby respite center. Together, they provide meals, hygiene kits, and a safe place to rest and shower. Most importantly, they share the hope of Jesus with those in need.
For volunteers, it’s a front-row seat to Gospel-centered compassion. The Lermas help churches see how God might be calling them to start similar ministries in their own communities.
Through our prayers and giving, we help missionaries like Osvaldo and Vanessa serve vulnerable people and equip others to do the same. Pray this week that mission teams will take what they learn in Laredo and begin compassion ministries in their own communities.
