Sunday Highlight: October 29, 2023
We are praying today for two of our missionaries in Scotland. They are Patrick and Erin Schwartz, who have served there about three years. They live in Glasgow, Scotland’s capital, with their two young daughters. Our church supports them through our Cooperative Program giving. Patrick and Erin partner with a local church, Refuge Church Glasgow, to reach local communities. Many of us probably think of Scotland as a Christian nation. In truth, the church has little presence.
Believers make up a tiny fraction of the population. Many church buildings have been torn down or converted to other uses. The Scots literally follow sports more than Christ. People from many other lands live in Glasgow these days.
Erin became friends with Meiying, a woman from China. At first, Meiying was not interested in the Gospel. But Erin’s peaceful outlook on life caused her to ask questions. After a year, Meiying put her faith in Jesus and was baptized. Patrick and Erin really need our prayers because they serve in a place where few have any interest in God and decisions for Christ are scarce. Let’s also pray for a revival across Scotland.
