Dear Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention Ohana,
I am pleased to report that the HPBC Executive Board met on May 9, 2025, at Life Christian Church with attendance both in-person and virtually. The meeting was productive and focused on achieving the convention’s mission and objectives.
Significant Actions:
- Financial Stewardship – The Board approved the 2024 audited financial statements , which received a clean (unmodified) opinion for another consecutive year from CW Associates. Our convention’s finances remain stable with operations running at a surplus for the first quarter despite CP giving being slightly below forecast. We are grateful to the Executive Director-Treasurer, Dr. Craig Webb, and Finance Director, Monica Kang, for careful stewardship of the convention’s resources.
- Leadership Development – The Board approved a $12,000 Leadership Development Initiative for Jeff Fisher of Kihei Baptist Chapel, continuing our commitment to investing in the development of ministry leaders.
- Organizational Alignment – Board action recommended that both Hawaii Baptist Academy and Hawaii Baptist Foundation update their constitutions and bylaws to maintain unity and consistency across our convention. We remain committed to finding tangible and significant ways to partner together with our agencies for the gospel.
- Pu’ukahea Conference Center – Fundraising efforts have begun with the Hawaii Baptist Foundation contributing $10,000 for renovations and several O’ahu churches committing other significant financial gifts for Pu’ukahea projects. A subcommittee task group will be assisting in developing plans to eliminate deficit spending and ensure sustainable future operations at Pu’ukahea.
- Abuse Prevention – The Communications Committee finalized a multi-channel reporting system for sexual abuse concerns, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to creating safe ministry environments.
The Board also began reviewing the proposed 2026 budget and updated Personnel Policy manual, with final approvals scheduled for our August meeting.
We remain committed with the executive director to the strategic priorities of supporting pastors and their families, strengthening our churches, and planting new churches. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 22, 2025, at Mililani Baptist Church.
I invite you to mark your calendars and plan to attend our Annual Meeting in Kona, at the Kona Outrigger Resort on November 21-22, 2025. It will be an encouraging time of fellowship and worship with time set aside to complete the necessary business of our convention.
Serving with joy,
Brian Frable
President, HPBC Executive Board President
