The HPBC Church Planting Team partners with multiplying missional churches. We help the church multiply other multiplying missional churches along with planters, partners and spiritually needed people groups. We explore with the missional church for the voice of God to search needed people and partners. We work along with the church as they enlist the planter and the supporting partner churches, and equip the church multiplying team. We facilitate the churches to mobilize their support team and celebrate together. We emphasize the prayer because the church plant is the spiritual fruit that is produced throughout His spiritual awakening. We invite churches to His Church Planting Mission. It is for spiritual impact to the Hawaii Pacific.

There are four things you need to keep in mind when thinking about planting a church.
- Identifying the People Group
- Engaging the Community
- Establishing an Intentional Gathering
- Launching a New Church
IDENTIFY. Your local church can identify specific people groups who need the Gospel. The Church Planting Team of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention is available to help you through this process through several different resources.
ENGAGE. The HPBC staff will assist your local church in formulating a strategy that will impact the community. This strategy will allow your church to interact with the local community and help develop lasting relationships.
ESTABLISH. Your local church will assist the community in establishing an intentional gathering to make disciples. They will also enlist a leadership team to guide the new church plant. HPBC will assist your church in discovering a church planter and the planter is required to go through the assessment process.
LAUNCH. Your local church will assist the intentional gathering to launch as a reproducing local church and will help them become an autonomous church. This includes constituting and affiliating with the local association and HPBC.
We see a day when healthy, reproducing local churches are established to reach every person in every community in the Hawaii/Pacific Island.
We invite you to share with us!
- Sharing
- Partnering
- Assessing
- Empowering
SHARING. Share your story, your calling and your vision to reach local people. We will assist you in developing your ministry strategy, which will help formulate a timeline for your church start.
PARTNERING. Partnerships are a key to starting churches. You must have a local sponsoring church and at least two other supporting churches. We will assist in finding these churches that will help your church be successful.
ASSESSING. The North American Mission Board has created a tool that helps predict your success as a church planter. The assessment includes personality profile, spiritual gifts, strengths and weaknesses, work style, family health and finances. We can walk with you through this process that takes 3-6 months.
EMPOWERING. We offer training, throughout the year, to help build a team, develop a vision and an action plan, and share resources that will help start a church.
We are looking for church planters committed to:
– Disciples making disciples
– Churches planting churches
– Raising local leaders
– Multi-cultural ministries
Hawaii Pacific Church Planting adopts two types of sponsorship. One is the Motherhood Sponsorship that functions as a mother to the daughter missions, not matured church, or the fellowship that desires to start a new church. The sponsor church looks after and guides them until they become a matured self-sustaining, multiplying church. The church may adopt a step-daughter mission.
The other is the Mentoring Sponsorship. The church may adopt a HPBC affiliated church that needs a sponsorship. The church walks alongside the new church, mentoring to grow the church as a mature self-sustaining, multiplying church.
HPBC Church Planting Office resources the Missional churches, sponsoring the new congregation.
