Here are some updates from our second quarter HPBC Executive Board meetings. Watch a video update or read the content below.
Aloha Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention family. I’ve now been serving as your Interim Executive Director-Treasurer for 3 months!
It has been a joy to join our staff for prayer each morning as they lift up each of our churches, our pastors and their wives, and our HPBC ministries throughout each month. There has been a lot of transition for our staff to work though these past months, but I have only grown in my confidence in those serving on our HPBC staff team.
Along with my work with the staff, I also have had to deal with many more emails and zoom meetings than ever before! but at the end of the day, I am glad to be able to serve our convention and our Lord in this way at this time.
Since many of you have asked, in regards to properties no sales plans are being made at this time, and we are working on plans for the Pu’u Kahea property that I hope to share more about in the future. In other related news, I submitted a 2024 budget draft to the board this past weekend, which takes some big steps to get us closer to a balanced budget this coming year.
Let me switch hats now and become your elected HPBC president again …
Your board members will be reviewing the budget in the coming months, and then my plan is to make it available for all to see at least a month before our annual meeting.
In other Executive Board news, we have approved tasks for each of our committees to work on different pieces of policy for our convention in the coming months. Some regarding our initiatives helping churches with costa for theological education and entry level positions, others with steps regarding the sexual abuse task force, and finally regarding the use of our HPBC properties. There is more work they are doing that I hope to share in August
Finally, let me announce our Annual meeting plans:
Thursday-Friday, November 2-3, 2023 at the Japanese Cultural Center on Oahu.
Thursday-Friday, November 7-8, 2024, at Hawaii Baptist Academy on Oahu.
Thursday-Friday, November 6-7, 2025 on one of our neighbor islands.
One reason for having it in Oahu again this year, is that we hope to announce and celebrate a new Executive Director at that time. I’ll let our Search Team chair Brian Frable speak to that more …
