Sunday Highlight: February 5, 2023

Watch out for sand in your shoes because today we’re going to pray our way over to Arizona. Let’s pray for two of our missionaries, Mathew and Tracy Mueller, who have planted a new church in northern Peoria, part of Greater Phoenix. Valley Life North Peoria Church, planted in 2020, is one of seven new churches planted by the original Valley Life Church. Mathew and Tracy are partnering with that church and our North American Mission Board in the new work.

Our church is also partnering with them financially, through our Cooperative Program giving. The aim is not to plant one large church, but many smaller neighborhood churches throughout Phoenix. Mathew and Tracy are praying that their new church plant will be followed by others as they disciple members. North Phoenix is growing. Mathew says they try to contact new families soon as they arrive. The church also hosts community events such as showing movies in the park, Easter events and the like.

They have been able to reach people with little or no church background. One man had only attended church at Christmas and Easter. But he said when he heard Mathew explain the Gospel, he understood it for the first time. The man soon gave his life to Christ and was baptized. Two of his children have also come to faith in Christ. Let’s pray for Mathew and Tracy, for their first new church and the ones they’re praying will follow.
