Sunday Highlight: April 16, 2023
In our missions prayer time today, we will pray for Kadin Christian. Let’s call him a missionary for truth. All our missionaries use Bible truths, of course. But Kadin is a research coordinator for our Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. That’s our agency that looks into issues and questions of our nation’s culture, morality, politics — then highlights what the Bible teaches about them. Kadin serves with that important ministry. This helps churches and leaders understand the issues and deal with them. These days, we are surrounded by media — TV, social media, and the like — that 24/7 present a non-Christian or even an anti-Christian point of view. Keeping a biblical view of the world is harder than ever — but also just as important as ever.
Don’t picture Kadin sitting in a library somewhere. He also serves as missionary to students at Auburn University, a state school in eastern Alabama. In this ministry, he is supported both by our North American Mission Board and First Baptist Church in nearby Opelika. Every day, Kadin talks to students — both believers and unbelievers. He disciples Christian students to help them hang onto their faith amid the challenging university setting. He points them to local churches. This also lets him know what students are hearing from professors and other sources.
Our church’s Cooperative Program giving helps fund our Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and also Kadin’s ministry. Let’s pray for Kadin and ask the Lord to bless his ministries of truth.
