Sunday Highlight: August 15
Today in our prayer time, let’s go to Puerto Rico. You may think this island in the Caribbean is just a resort place. But about three million people live there. Get away from the tourist zone and things look different. Puerto Rico has been in the news for sad reasons in recent years: a hurricane in 2017, an earthquake in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
That brings us to Jonathan and Yesenia Santiago, our missionaries who serve as North American Mission Board missionaries there. Jonathan directs the Send Relief Ministry Center. Of course our church’s Cooperative Program giving helps support Jonathan and Yesenia and the center.
Volunteers from the United States help the center distribute food and many other resources to help the island people. And of course they also share the gospel in every effort. Jonathan and the island churches have been busy non-stop for several years. Many people they help have lost everything they own. Needs are often critical. Let’s pray now for Jonathan and Yesenia in their very challenging ministry.
Thank you for learning more about the ways your church’s gifts through the Cooperative Program are the financial fuel for reaching every person for Jesus Christ in every town, every city, every state, and every nation. Connect the offering plate to the mission field with “52 Sundays” resources.
