All pastors, church staff, and church leaders are invited to attend our September Leadership Training Events on Maui (9/17) Hawaii Island (9/18) and Oahu (9/19) featuring Dr. Adam Groza and Dr. Jeff Iorg from Gateway Seminary.

Thursday, September 19, 5:00-9:00 PM at Mililani Baptist Church, 94-293 Anania Dr, Mililani, Hawaii 96789 Oahu

Meal at 5:00 p.m. followed by speakers and panel discussion. We plan to end at 9:00 p.m. $10 per person.

Dr. Jeff Iorg is President of Gateway Seminary (formerly Golden Gate). His topic for this event will be “Developing leaders in your church.”

Dr. Iorg will discuss where leaders come from, obstacles to training leaders, motivations to train leaders, and four methods to train leaders. He will illustrate each of these from his church planting and pastoral leadership days.

Dr. Iorg teaches leadership, preaching, and church ministry courses at Gateway Seminary. He speaks frequently on these subjects in conferences and other venues, including college campuses and leadership seminars. His publications include seven books: The Painful Side of Leadership, The Character of Leadership, Is God Calling Me?, The Case for Antioch, Seasons of a Leader’s Life, Unscripted, Ministry in the New Marriage Culture, and his latest, Leading Major Change in Your Ministry. Iorg has also written dozens of articles and curriculum materials.

Iorg is a graduate of Hardin Simmons University (B.A.), Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He is married to Ann, has three adult children, and four grandchildren. His hobbies include reading fiction, cheering on the Oregon Ducks, and searching for the world’s best barbecue restaurant.

Dr. Adam Groza is vice president of Enrollment and Student Services and Associate Professor of Philosophy of Religion at Gateway Seminary. Adam is a native Californian and has taught philosophy related classes at a variety of institutions including California Baptist University, Tarleton State University, Scarborough College, and Korea Baptist Theological Seminary. Adam joined the Gateway family in June 2010 after serving on faculty and as director of admissions at Southwestern. He also currently serves as associate professor of philosophy of religion. Adam has contributed to various books including Ministry in the New Marriage Culture (B&H, 2016) and Idealism and Christian Philosophy (Bloomsbury Academic, 2016), and his writings have been featured by online by Baptist Press, the ERLC, CBMW, and Preaching Source.

Adam has been married to Holly since 2000 and together they have four children: Cosette, Charlie , Christian, and Cate. Holly is from Burbank, California and enjoys being a stay-at-home mother and homeschooling her children. In their spare time, the Grozas enjoy hiking, going to the beach, and concerts.

His topic for this event will be “Preparing your leaders to be bold in sharing their faith.” We specifically asked Dr. Groza to be a part of this event because of the response our Baptist Collegiate Ministry students had when he led them in two different collegiate retreats.

The plan for the evening is a meal at 5:00 p.m. followed by our guest speakers (each speaker will teach for about an hour) then we will end the evening with a panel discussion where the audience will be able to ask questions of Drs. Iorg and Groza. We plan to end at 9:00 p.m.

$10 per person will cover meal and conference.
