Sunday Highlight: June 27
What does it take to be a missionary? We could talk of God’s call and many other factors. Today, though, let’s pray for a missionary and look at one event that speaks to what it means to be a missionary. Dan and Ella serve in Europe. But they minister to people from Central Asia. Our church supports them through our Cooperative Program giving.
One day Dan caught a bus home from the market. A man from Afghanistan was on the same bus. Dan spoke to him in Dari, one of the main Afghan languages. At first the man was nervous, but soon calmed down to listen. Dan told the man God loves him and had sent Jesus to provide for his salvation.
“I will pray for you in the name of Jesus,” Dan told him. Now the man did not make a decision for Christ. Dan may never see him again. But using every opportunity to tell others about Jesus — that’s what a missionary does. Every believer should do the same! Let’s pray for Dan and Ella — and let’s pray that man on the bus some day will be saved.
Thank you for learning more about the ways your church’s gifts through the Cooperative Program are the financial fuel for reaching every person for Jesus Christ in every town, every city, every state, and every nation. Connect the offering plate to the mission field with “52 Sundays” resources.
