Sunday Highlight: August 27, 2023
For our missions prayer time today, we will direct our attention to Romania, focusing on the war in Ukraine. Millions of the Ukrainian people have fled to other countries to escape Russia’s war against their country. It’s hard for us in America to even think about helping so many. But our missionaries all over Eastern Europe have been working night and day to minister to the refugees. Many Baptist volunteers have also gone to help.
Caroline Anderson is one of our missionaries serving in Romania. Our church supports her through our Cooperative Program giving. When Caroline thinks of the refugees, she does not think of the millions. She thinks of Den, age two, and Dimi, age four. They remind her of her nephews, right down to their blonde hair and blue eyes. Den and Dimi and their parents managed to escape their home in Ukraine into Romania. There a Baptist church provided shelter, food, counseling and the love of Jesus. The family hopes eventually to emigrate to Australia.
Romanian Baptists will try to get them connected with a church there. Let’s pray for these young boys and their parents — that they will remain safe, but also that they will come to follow Jesus, the Prince of Peace. And let’s pray for our missionary, Caroline, as she stretches her missionary job assignment to include war refugee ministry.
