Sunday Highlight: December 17, 2023
Today in our prayer time, we’re going direct our focus to Japan and the trainline there. First, we must understand that Japan has been slow to respond to the Gospel. The Christian faith has grown in most other parts of Asia, but in Japan, not so much. The first need is prayer. But how can Christians be enlisted to pray for Japan, or its huge capital, Tokyo? Answer: A 50 mph prayer meeting!
Carlton and Cornelia Walker, our missionaries in Tokyo, encourage visiting volunteers and online participants via Zoom (prayyamanote.com) to ride with them on the JR Yamanote Line, a train that makes a loop around the city and 30 stops in a little more than an hour. A prayer guide explains needs in the neighborhoods, so prayers can be very specific.
Through the Cooperative Program, our church supports Carlton and Cornelia and other missionaries as they work hard to share Jesus with the Japanese people. Let’s pray for the Walkers — and that many thousands of Christians will pray for the salvation of Japan, starting with the capital city, Tokyo.
