Sunday Highlight: December 13, 2026
When Christian and Laura Rowland began planting a church in Langley, British Columbia, a diverse suburb of Vancouver, they didn’t realize how deeply the area needed a Gospel witness.
“When we moved here, we were just trying to figure out, ‘Where do we start?’” Christian said. Thankfully, God had already been at work.
Both Christian and Laura grew up overseas and served in Vancouver as college students through GenSend, a North American Mission Board program that places young adults alongside church planters. After marrying, their Texas church announced plans to plant a new church in Vancouver.
“We grew up overseas like so many people here, then we served with GenSend here, and ended up in a congregation called to plant here,” Christian said. “So, we can look back and say, ‘Oh, that’s God.’”
Through our support of the Cooperative Program, our church helps missionaries and church planters like the Rowlands bring the Gospel to communities in need. Pray that God will provide the resources needed for ministry in one of North America’s most expensive metro areas.
