Sunday Highlight: July 5, 2026
In 2023, Beza Merna and his wife, Yetnayet Woldegiorgis, planted Christ’s Saints Church to reach Amharic-speaking Ethiopians in Alexandria, Virginia. With an estimated 800,000 Ethiopians living between Alexandria and Silver Spring, Maryland, this region is considered the largest Ethiopian “city” outside of Addis Ababa.
Beza faithfully shares the Gospel on the streets of Alexandria, handing out tracts, preaching, and engaging in conversations about Jesus. God has blessed his efforts. Christ’s Saints Church recently baptized three new believers and, despite being a young and small congregation, has already sent out another church planter.
This growing ministry is a powerful example of how God is working through faithful evangelism and intentional discipleship. Our church supports missionaries like Beza and Yetnayet through the Cooperative Program, which helps fund church planting efforts across the country.
Pray that Beza and Yetnayet will continue to boldly share the Gospel and that God will bring lasting fruit. Ask God to mature the new believers and raise up more workers to join them in the harvest field.
