Sunday Highlight: August 2, 2026
Mel and Rachel Hennegan are church planters on Guam, a U.S. territory known for its beaches and palm trees. But for the Hennegans, it’s the place where God called them to plant Gospel Life Church.
Located in the heart of the Asian-Pacific Rim, Guam is home to a diverse population, including Chamorro natives, Filipinos, Americans, Micronesians, and others from across the Pacific region. As a strategic military base, Guam also hosts service members from every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces — Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army, and Coast Guard. This gives Mel and Rachel the opportunity to minister to both local families and military personnel.
Now in their second year of planting Gospel Life, the Hennegans are seeing God build a diverse community united around the Gospel. One challenge they face is that nearly 90 percent of Guam’s population identifies as Catholic, making it vital to clearly proclaim salvation by grace alone through faith in Christ.
Gospel Life Church is becoming a spiritual home for Guam’s diverse community and meeting the growing need for healthy, Gospel-centered churches on the island.
Let’s pray for Gospel Life Church to faithfully share the Gospel and continue shining as a light for Jesus across the Pacific.
