Sunday Highlight: May 31, 2026
Eric and Brittany Gibbs serve primarily on the Tohono O’Odham Nation and the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. On the Tohono O’Odham Nation, only one percent of the population identifies as evangelical, and many villages have no known believers.
The Gibbs felt called to a village known for resisting the Gospel and outsiders. Despite discouragement from others, they prayed for the opportunity to plant a church there. They visited weekly, built relationships, helped families with basic needs, and served however they could.
“After several months, we received permission to begin a Bible study,” Eric said. For a while, it seemed fruitless—until one woman attended and gave her life to Christ. “Once that happened, there was a domino effect,” Eric said. “Within the next year, 20 people trusted Christ, and a church was born!”
The day the first two men in the village were baptized, the Gibbs were reminded of God’s faithfulness and His power to answer prayer.
You are a part of this story! Giving through the Cooperative Program helps support missionaries like the Gibbs as they serve in hard-to-reach places. Pray that Eric and Brittany will remain faithful and not grow weary in their ministry.
