Updates on the life and times in the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention

1. New pastor: Seung Min Im has accepted the call to serve as pastor of the Ohana Mission Baptist Church, Honolulu. His first Sunday was December 11, 2011. Please add pastor Im to your prayer support list.

 

2. Free Christmas trees: News via Walt Agena; The Lokahi Giving Project has been given a 45 foot refrigerated Container of Christmas Trees. The trees are available through churches that would like to bless people in their community. You can pick up a tree, first come first serve at the back side of OlaNui! on Ilaniwai Street, between Cooke Street and Ward Avenue. Make someone happy today.

 

3. Deadline for CEC is December 28: Continuing Education Conference 2012—January 23-26, 2012 is scheduled in Hilo at the Kinoole Baptist Church (meetings); Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (lodging). The theme for the formal learning time is “The Progression of Worship.” This subject is not about worship styles. It is about growing in worship. Dr. Leroy Gainey, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Vacaville, California and professor at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary will guide us into the presence of the Most High God. Pastor Tullos Jones of Kona Baptist Church will guide our musical worship. The Cost: $250 (hotel room for 3-nights, per person double occupancy, 4 meals, and conference fee),$475 (hotel room for 3-nights, per person single occupancy, 4 meals, and conference fee), $75 Commuter (conference fee ONLY, Monday only, no lodging) ALL registration due by Wednesday, December 28, 2011. 4. Movie Night, “Courageous” – Friday January 6, 2012: The International Baptist Fellowship, Honolulu is inviting the greater Baptist Family and the people they love to participate in the showing of the movie, “Courageous” at the Chapel of the HPBC, 2042 Vancouver Drive, Honolulu, January 6, 2012, 7:00pm-9:00pm. 5. Opportunity to Connect with the IMB in January: Mike Hand, IMB Connecting is in Hawaii through January. Mike has been visiting churches annually across the islands and is returning to connect with churches he missed last year. He will be visiting churches and sharing how Baptists are connecting with people groups around the world. He is available to speak in churches or to meet individually with members interested in missions beyond the Pacific.
